Nick Ashford's version of "California soul" on a Verve DJ promo. I'm not certain if his version came first, but Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell tackle this on their last LP "Easy"...a great single
The Five Du-Tones original version of "Shake a tail feather" on Lost- Nite Records red vinyl...i'm assuming this is a reissue. The B-side "Divorce Court" is pretty good too.
One chain don't make no prison from 1974- sounding a little like The Isley Brother's '70's output...Got this at the weekend from the fantastic "Spin City" Records in Sheffield
The In-Betweens "Evil Witchman" from 1966. The In-Betweens were an early incarnation of Slade and this could possibly be their first self written tune to be released...it's fantastic and was recently re-issued in the UK on the flip of "You better run"...Wot an intro!
Fantastic tune from the 1970 LP "That's the way love is". This was originally done by The Temptations at a slower pace but Marvin nails this one funky stylee!
Apologies for poor sound quality but this was my first attempt. This was the first night of the UK tour at the Sheffield Leadmill on Wednesday 15-11-06. Top Stuff!!!
