MY birthday cake ! I also showed a super short tutorial to give an idea on two ways to make the topsy turvy look - i also got that from the net.
step by step guide on making an angel out of fondant ; it's my first attempt in making the angels and they turned out okay so i wanted to share this with all the beginners like me who could get an idea or two on how to make it. I know you guys can make even better versions of this !
4 Cakes in all. Locomotive the biggest part. All the other three cakes were inside the cars made of gumpaste.
Cake inspired by Thomas the train. Gumpaste used for train cars. Many of the figures were inspired by Aine2!
some tools I use with gumpaste
CUTTERS AND VEINERS were bought from: www.sugarcraft.com and www.globalsugarart.c om, letter cutters are from globalsugarat.com and are from the FMM company
This is my third fondant cake creation. I thank laybee24,becakpilot, cookingupastory, sugariesweet, expert village, aine2 etc... whose videos encouraged me to try baking ang using fondant !
part 3 - i missed out putting the wings on! Ran out of memory card space... but i hope its still easy to follow :)
NOW I REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE TOOL -- a gumpaste GUN ! haha... it kinda functions like a garlic press :) wow, wish i had one of those... but like i said, esp for beginners...we can always look for other ways to make it if we dont have the exact tool on hand.
My fourth fondant cake -- and i tried using chocolate fondant. The flowers were adaptations of 'boostprints' video- thanks a LOT for the step by step instructions.
Figure made from gumpaste using Aine2's tutorial - a MUST for fondant enthusiasts ! Inspiration for ballerina came from Debbie Brown's book, Enchanted cakes.
My son is now 11 months, and this is his cake. I took the inspiration from Debbie Brown's website--although her creation is a million times better than this one...I couldn't copy the nemo & dory fishies ;( But i TRIED :)
MISTAKE-this is my FIFTH. I lost count :) ( bad lighting too, sorry...I initially wanted to make an irregularly shaped cake-- but was only able to make the top part. This was inspired by thepaintedeye.com -- who makes incredible cakes! Hope you like this one... it took me a while to make it, that's why to me it's pretty :)
(pls look at same cake in another video to see it with better lighting) My first try for a topsy turvy cake. Magic themed party - i used gumpaste for the figures...tons of luster dust (haha)...and edible markers for the detail on the hankies' edge...
Really BAD lighting as usual-- colors are MUCH brighter than this!
'curtain call' Little Einsteins Theme, all figures were gumpaste. unfoertunately, i was unable to make all of the tiers in cake-- and i used a dummy underneath. my little boy got so sick, i could not work on the cake at all.
Fondant cake for my little boy's 1st birthday! Inspired by Elmo's design in the plates we used. This cake is simple but took a long time to make due to the small pieces that had to be put in. But all is worth it for my boy! Hope you like this one.
Ice skates were carved from styro and covered in fondant/gumpaste.
cake was supposed to look like a pillow ( hence the uneven sides) but i did not carve it down since we need more cake.
Lindy Smith inspired fondant cake. 3 tiers measure, 10 in hexagon bottom tier, 10 in round mid tier and 6 inch hexagon top tier. Burgundy fondant made by mixing red and chocolate fondant together. Hope you guys like this cake!
